Tony Trimarco (Legionnaire from Floyd Bennett Post 1060) looks forward to mentoring students, making the union the "in" place to be!

By David Dodds
Herald Staff Writer

Former Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce operation manager and UND Work Force Development project planner Tony Trimarco has been tapped to head operations at UND's Memorial Union.
.
A native of New York City, Trimarco spent 26 years in the
Air Force, finishing his career at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in 1995. He succeeds MaryAnne Lustgraaf, who left last year for a similar position with the University of New Hampshire.

"It feels great- I'm happy, I'm excited," Trimarco said. "It's not
something I expected to be doing when I started my employment at UND."

Trimarco started his new duties earlier this month.

After his discharge from the Air Force, Trimarco and his family decided to stay in Grand Forks, and he took the position of operation manager for the Chamber of

Commerce In 1998, he joined UND's Division of Continuing Education and worked with its office of Work Force Development.

Trimarco, 52, calls his new position as director of the

Memorial Union a step up for him. He also said it's an

important job with a lot of responsibility.

He hopes to guide the Memorial Union into a new era, one that reestablishes the union as the center of things on campus. That endeavor will be marked by a major internal and external renovation of the Memorial Union building, beginning this fall.

In addition, Trimarco said, his new job will allow him to serve as a mentor for students.
"This opens up a lot of new opportunities for us to work with students and to help build their leadership skills," Trimarco said. "We need to prepare students for the world that they're about to work and live in."

This Post Congratulates you Tony Trimarco --

We are proud to call you Comrade!
